When I have them it's kind of like yours. It gets to the point where everything around me is too much and usually if I'm in a place where I can do this I'll sit down, put my hands over my ears, and take some very deep breaths. I have to get away from anyone near me. Example. I've had a boyfriend pull a truck over into a random empty parking lot and I had to get out of the truck and go sit in the grass while he waited in the car. You're not alone. I suggest recognizing when it's becoming a little too much and removing yourself from the situation and taking some deep breaths. Mine don't happen that often at all, so if you're having them frequently (once a week) then you might need some medicine to help keep you calm. Remember, whatever you're going through medically, it is very unlikely that you're the only one going through it. 7 billion people in the world so no matter how much you may feel like you're the only one, lots of people are dealing with the same issue. I hope everything works out.<p><a href="http://ezinearticles.com/?The-Importance-of-Travel-Health-Insurance-in-Overseas&id=5894511">Travel Health Insurance</a></p>

I'm a 48 year old man who has had panic disorder, which includes panic attack, agoraphobia, obsessive compulsive behavior...i have been through groups, doctors and plenty of medications. I MUST ADMIT THAT I HAVE HAD MY UPS AND DOWNS...going through diaphramatic breathing, visualiation, flooding exercises and have had sucess in all of IT. HOWEVER, just when i think i can trust myself, i've been 'HIT' WITH debilitating panic attack and i'd become so comfortable that i had no longer required all of my sense to me on high, awaiting my fight rather then flight...this is crushing; it is defeat in the worse way...how do i trust myself? self hate comes and the ripping of my ego/person apart happens. i'm here again and i don't want to start over damn it. can anyone relate?

Thank you for this informative article. It goes a long way in explaining my recent experience which has launched an interest in researching art therapy for anxiety. I found myself evoking an image that had brought me relief from a tense situation a couple of years back and found that to be my focus for the study. Ihave only recently recognized these rare moments of "truth" to be anxiety.

I think that you really need to consult that issue to the experts that will surely give you the right remedy to make it as normal as it seems by telling the right things that for you to know. And help your self by controlling that kind of attitude towards your girlfriend because that might give her the feeling of letting you go for the reason that she can't breathe anymore or the little freedom that she wants is not anymore there when you are always like that to her.<p><a href="http://wallwiz.com" title="Wallpaper changer for Mac">Wallpaper changer for mac</a></p>

Your life seems to be consumed with this person, and needing constant affirmation from her.
it may be due to a low self-esteem or issues with independence and boundaties.
unfortunately this puts a HUGE amount of pressure on her, and may drive her away.
Do you have other interests--things you like to do that do not involve her?
Do you go to school--and/or work?
You need to get involved with other things in life to expand your interests and things to do to keep busy and engaged in life.
Putting all that pressure on someone is just too much and she might get scared off.
Seeing a counselor/therapist may be a very good idea to talk things out with them.
try to really think before calling repeatedly, and especially driving over there--as it can be seen as stalking.<p><a href="http://ezinearticles.com/?Slow-Down-Aging-With-HGH-Supplements---Is-It-Possible?&id=5879536">Anti Aging HGH Supplements</a></p>

Hi Katharine...actually panic attack is a sort of anxiety disorder...
Looks like you have some symptoms of panic attacks!

the symptoms of a panic attack appear suddenly, without any apparent cause. They may include

racing or pounding heartbeat (palpitations);

chest pains;---THIS IS YOUR SYMPTOM!

stomach upset;

dizziness, lightheadedness, nausea;---THIS IS YOUR SYMPTOM!

difficulty breathing, a sense of feeling smothered;

tingling or numbness in the hands;---THIS IS YOUR SYMPTOM!

hot flashes or chills;

trembling and shaking;

dreamlike sensations or perceptual distortions;

terror, a sense that something unimaginably horrible is about to occur and one is powerless to prevent it;

a need to escape;

nervousness about the possibility of losing control and doing something embarrassing;

fear of dying.

Actually panic disorder is not a disease...it is psychological problem!
And there is no certain treatment is for all sufferers because panic attack is so different from person to person!! Try some natural treatments before taking medications!

I think you can try some self-help tips to cure at first step... check below video

... hope it works for you.

Are you anxious right before? Many panic attacks are caused by the fear of (wouldn't you know it) panic attacks. The fact that you worried about it enough to post it up on here is a red flag to me. Panic attacks are different for different people. I get out of focus and my heart goes racing, I can't get any control back. They last for different amounts of time so it's hard to say. I wouldn't say that I have actual pain though. It looks a little big like a total break down; crying, gasping out of control, and a lot of the time the attack-ee is thinking to themselves "Oh god, oh god, oh god, I am dying! I am dying!". Hard to explain, really. I have an extreme anxiety disorder & often feel this way. My parents spotted it but I had several people come and tell me that they thought I had an anxiety disorder. I know how terribly horrible it is. Don't listen to anyone here who says that you can easily fix it on your own, but also do not go running to the pills. The side effects to the drugs often make it much worse. I am trying chinese natural medication (may sound a little crazy, I know!), meditation, yoga and drinking tea. Although panic attacks may still creep up on you or something might spin you out of control... unfortunatly there's no cure so we all have to learn to live with it. Start paying attention to the little things that you know set you off. Deep breathing into a paper bag or into your hands with your eyes closed helps. When I first suspected this I was telling myself that I was being paranoid. Just know that what you are going through is REAL & if there is always little things making your palms sweat and your head hurt... you most likely have -at least a light case- of GAD... There are many different types of anxiety disorders but often people will have two different types. i.e. I have both GAD & PD
*Remember most people with an anxiety disorder only have some of the symptoms... almost never does someone have all symptoms*

Are you anxious right before? Many panic attacks are caused by the fear of (wouldn’t you know it) panic attacks. The fact that you worried about it enough to post it up on here is a red flag to me. Panic attacks are different for different people. I get out of focus and my heart goes racing, I can’t get any control back. They last for different amounts of time so it’s hard to say. I wouldn’t say that I have actual pain though. It looks a little big like a total break down; crying, gasping out of control, and a lot of the time the attack-ee is thinking to themselves “Oh god, oh god, oh god, I am dying! I am dying!”. Hard to explain, really. I have an extreme anxiety disorder & often feel this way. My parents spotted it but I had several people come and tell me that they thought I had an anxiety disorder. I know how terribly horrible it is. Don’t listen to anyone here who says that you can easily fix it on your own, but also do not go running to the pills. The side effects to the drugs often make it much worse. I am trying chinese natural medication (may sound a little crazy, I know!), meditation, yoga and drinking tea. Although panic attacks may still creep up on you or something might spin you out of control… unfortunatly there’s no cure so we all have to learn to live with it. Start paying attention to the little things that you know set you off. Deep breathing into a paper bag or into your hands with your eyes closed helps. When I first suspected this I was telling myself that I was being paranoid. Just know that what you are going through is REAL & if there is always little things making your palms sweat and your head hurt… you most likely have -at least a light case- of GAD… There are many different types of anxiety disorders but often people will have two different types. i.e. I have both GAD & PD

Yes that is normal. Even if you are not having a full on attack, any sort of stress could cause even the smallest symptom.

Yes...those are some of the most common symptoms of anxiety and sometimes those sensations alone will cause you to have a panic attack. I use to get those sensations and I use to be like "what the heck is this? It use to make me even more anxious and then I would get a full blown panic attack. Don't worry...it'll get better.

Believe it or not, the best way to stop a panic attack happening is to demand more of it! Seems strange, I know, but it really works! I learned this technique from a program called Panic Away. The program gives you all the details on how to use this technique and how it works. It's worth checking out.

Breathing exercises, meditation, mindfullness skills....... however, all of these things he should practice when he is NOT having a panic attack so it will be easier to do them while panicking.

I get attacks sometimes too.I'm not really sure if they are anxiety or panic attacks.
I have a terrible fear of throwing up..I can't stand throwing up and I will do anything to avoid it..even if it means going to the hospital and getting pricked with IV's (which I have done before...and I am scared of needles, but I would rather have needles in me than to throw up)..when I get my attacks,it usually starts off with my stomach feeling sick, then I get this ,like, heat I guess I can say..run through my body and I start shaking. What I do is lay down on my back and close my eyes and try not to think of anything..or I will have some one talk to me while I'm laying down about taking pictures (which is something I love to do) or something else to get my mind off of it.Usually this makes it go away in a half hour or less.

You have a treatable illness called anxiety disorder. it is an imbalance in the adrenaline system which sets off a chemical reaction in your body that triggers feelings. You need to see a psychiatrist for an evaluation and get on medication that will reduce your symptoms and eventually eliminate them.

Unless, of course, you want to keep living like this. It is a choice. There is no why. There is only what and what is a disorder that is common and treatable. it is not something you can control or wish away.

Yes.... the old Brain Zap - I know it well. It's a part of anxiety/panic. So the brain scan won't show anything - and you'll get "that look" from the doctor which says.... "you crazy, or what?".

Well - you aren't crazy - LOTS of people have anxiety/panic - and it's miserable. I lived through it too. And who knows how I got it go go away! But yes - there is like a "jarring sensation" inside the head - like time stopped and started again - like aliens are arriving from a different dimension. In other words - Brain Zaps!

How to look at this disease?? Anxiety/panic is a natural outcome of some forgotten psychological issue. There's nothing organically wrong with you - it's that once, long ago, when you don't remember it, your life was threatened and it scared you half to death. This was repressed and "forgotten" - and now it's returned. The sad part is that all YOU get is the anxiety/panic - you don't automatically recover the WHY and HOW of the anxiety.

That's what psychoanalysts are for. They very slowly put together the anxiety which you feel with whatever happened. Or at least that's what they hope to do. And when you know the truth, you are free... Nice, hu? And my wish for you is that you will be free very soon.

But if you don't treat this disease, it goes away anyway... All of life tends toward health, and sooner or later the anxiety/panic will burn itself out. But it is so nice to explore the WHY of it anyway.

As Alice Miller says (she's a big shot European psychologist), the anxiety/panic is telling you a story - and each day you sit through the same story over and over. It's telling you the story of what happened the only way the mind has to do it.

This anxiety/panic deal - as it turns out - is just a HUGE misunderstanding - it's nothing evil or deadly. And the sad part is that it does waste your life while it's going on. And yet when you understand it better, it really is a beautiful thing.

Anyway - good luck! There's no real pressure inside your head!<p><a href="http://ezinearticles.com/?Shopping-Around-for-Individual-Health-Insurance-Quotes&id=5894443">Individual Health Insurance Quotes</a></p>

But yes – there is like a “jarring sensation” inside the head – like time stopped and started again – like aliens are arriving from a different dimension. In other words – Brain Zaps!

How to look at this disease?? Anxiety/panic is a natural outcome of some forgotten psychological issue. There’s nothing organically wrong with you – it’s that once, long ago, when you don’t remember it, your life was threatened and it scared you half to death. This was repressed and “forgotten” – and now it’s returned. The sad part is that all YOU get is the anxiety/panic – you don’t automatically recover the WHY and HOW of the anxiety.

That’s what psychoanalysts are for. They very slowly put together the anxiety which you feel with whatever happened. Or at least that’s what they hope to do. And when you know the truth, you are free… Nice, hu? And my wish for you is that you will be free very soon.

But if you don’t treat this disease, it goes away anyway… All of life tends toward health, and sooner or later the anxiety/panic will burn itself out. But it is so nice to explore the WHY of it anyway.

As Alice Miller says (she’s a big shot European psychologist), the anxiety/panic is telling you a story – and each day you sit through the same story over and over. It’s telling you the story of what happened the only way the mind has to do it.

This anxiety/panic deal – as it turns out – is just a HUGE misunderstanding – it’s nothing evil or deadly. And the sad part is that it does waste your life while it’s going on. And yet when you understand it better, it really is a beautiful thing.

Anyway – good luck! There’s no real pressure inside your head!

Yes, it most certainly can. However, anxiety can cause most any symptom or phenomena. Something like a 'brain zap' is 99.99% of the time not going to be able to be medically diagnosed by anyone. At best they might attribute it to some sort of migraine/seizure status.. but most of the time chalk it up to unknown etiology.

The most common source of what you are experiencing is the withdrawal of Effexor, that seems to be the most prevalent AD to produce these 'zaps'. Though I know you aren't discontinuing any medications or on them.

But yes, anxiety can cause them, and you aren't the first to report it.

Best case scenario I've seen with a longer case of these 'zaps' is relief from getting on various psychiatric medications (trial and error) and thus stopping the anxiety and zaps.

I would imagine that extreme anxiety changes many chemicals, in the brain and in the general bloodstream. Either reducing the anxiety on a consistent basis, or regulating the chemicals would stop the phenomena.

It is definitely not a co-morbid symptom.<p></p>

Your amigdala is a small part of your brain that is responsible for gut-level emotions like panic, fear, etc. It is sometimes called your "lizard brain" because evolutionarily it goes back really far. When you are having a panic attack this little guy thinks that you're in danger because something triggered it.

As a result, the amigdala starts flooding you with adrenaline which causes a lot of the commons symptoms like a racing heart and a feeling like you need to escape from where ever you are. This is what is called the "fight or flight response."

Some people think that when you have a chronic panic or anxiety problem, it is because your amigdala has become too sensitive and it starts to interpret common, everyday things that pose no real threat to you as a possible source of danger. This sends you into "fight or flight" for no substantial reasons.

Your body is flooded with adrenaline and you don't know what to do because there is not clear and present danger, so you have what they call a panic attack.

I'm no psychologist, but this is how I understand it to work. Hope this helps.

Of course, you need your medications while you are recovering. They are very useful at this time. Certainly, you will not need them forever. Make sure not to put a deadline on the recovery process. You will recover, but trying to hurry it tends to make it take a bit longer.

You will get better if you keep following the program you are on or really, any creditable prgram. I find most of these programs to be effective. My highest recommendations are htp://www.urperfectday.com and http://www.relaxingway.com .

In any event, one of the keys to full, quick recovery is to have total resolve you will let anxiety and panic go away on their own time table. Tryting too hard or giving youeself a grade on how you're doing slows things down. Go with the flow, as they say and you will be going in the right direction.

Remember, I've been through agoraphobic and panic anxiety disorder. I am fine now. I found my recover didn't start until I surrendered to aniety. I remember sitting in my living room alone telling a panic attack to come get me. I instructed it to do the worst it could. I really meant it. This was the day I turned the corner on agoraphobia.

Don't despair, there are bumps in the road of anything we do. Don't pay any attention to any setback you may have. Setbacks are part of the process. They only mean you are getting closer to a full recovery.

I am a sufferer of this illness. Mine may not be a severe as some, but it affects my life, in every aspect. Lately I have been tryimg some self-help techniques, at times I think they work to an extent. I never feel better for a long period of time. Do you have any suggestions? I do feel that taking classes online may be a breakthrough. My instructor encouraged me to do my final essay on this topic. I have found much information about it. I think with some self disapline I can help myself, although, I would need my anxiety medicines, for the process.

Not really sure what you can take to regulate the chemicals but when your having a panic attack the hypothalamus detects danger and sets off the adrenal mudulla which enlargers and releases andrenalin and noradrenalin which then go into the blood stream and set off the panic attack and all the psyical sensations of a panic attack! Hope that helps :)

The Difference

The main difference between anxiety attacks
and panic attacks is in the duration of the
attack and how intense it is for the person
with the affliction. While anxiety attacks
are less hi-stress, they tend to last longer
than the power-packed panic stressors. Of
course there is much more written on both
disorders to help people learn how to deal
with them in depth. Learn more with your own
copy of: The "Curing Your Anxiety and Panic

The symptoms of panic attacks and anxiety can be many and varied.

Everyone who experiences panic and anxiety, feels the effects of the the 'Fight' and Flight' response. The fight and flight response is a natural response to danger in humans and in animals. When the fight and flight response is activated, hormones are released through the body to enable us to either fight the dangerous situation or to run from it.

Symptoms may include:
-Breathing symptoms
-Muscle tension
-Digestive problems

Their are many other symptoms associated with an anxiety/panic attack.

Please visit this website for more information or seek help from your general practitioner.

The attacks usually occur suddenly. either without cause or in situations where a person feels at risk although no apparent danger exist. Symptoms include shortness of breath, hot and cold flashes, dizziness, chest pain, racing heart or palpitations, sweating and nausea. The symptoms are sometimes so intense that people suspect they are having a heart attack.
Slow, deep breathing from your abdomen is your best defense against panic attacks. Slow breathing can relieve muscle tension, dizziness, and many other early symptoms before they blossom into high panic.
So when you feel a panic attack coming on, place a hand on your abdomen and inhale slowly and deeply through your nose to count of four. As you breathe in, your hand should rise, a sign that you are breathing correctly. When you have taken a full breath, pause for a moment and then exhale slowly through your nose or mouth to a count of four. Allow your whole body to relax and become a limp as a rag doll. Do 10 repetitions or more, if necessary

I have been taking Xanax for a long time for the same reasons. I have never taken Xanax on the schedule of three or four times spaced through out the day as usually indicated on the bottle. I take the Xanax when I feel a panic attack coming on or have high anxiety. So basically I take it as needed. My dr knows this and agrees with this.

I will sometimes go days without taking one. They say these types of drugs can be addictive. I think when people are taking these 3 -4 times daily, this is how you become addicted.

Also this drug will not cause erection problems. One of the best things to do for your anxiety is exercise.

Charles Linden – Anxiety Cure

If you are searching for a way out from under the overwhelming burden of anxiety, then perhaps you should check out the Charles Linden approach. It is a renown cure for anxiety, that works over 95% of the time. It is psychologist recommended, and doctor approved. Better yet, you take NO medication. Just give it a look. =-)

It is very unusual for anyone to approve a comment that has an advertisement competing with his product. However, I wish you good luck with your book. I hope it helps many people and I'm sure it will.

The key to getting 100% past panic is 100% acceptance of the feelings panic lays on you. I think Panic Away does a very good job of leading its users to this point.

My only critizism of Panic Away is there is no real personal touch. For those who need personsonal exchange. I recommend visiting http://urperfectday.com/ . This program is slightly more expensive but it has a personal interaction involved. I have gotten high prases for both these programs.

I take Panicyl too and it works very well for my anxiety. In fact my panic attacks have now stopped. :) However, I don't suffer from ADD so you may want to check on that.

Be careful with the amount of Kava Kava you take if you try that since it can stress out your liver pretty badly.

Deara Jaynie - I can help. I used a supplement called panicyl which works great (for me anyway) I've suffered with anxiety and panic for a long time and have done the whole antidepressant thing. (it was a horrible experience dealing with those) ANyway it has a whole bunch of different herbs including gaba that you mentioned. Good luck Jaynie.

Don't be scared and don't feel alone, a lot of people go through this everyday. Most people just don't know how to deal with it.
But, I'll tell you in the beginning, drugs are not the answer. Some doctors practice premature diagnosis on a lot of serious problems. Just remember If a doctor gives you medication as the first step in solving your problem you might want to stay away from their practice.

The first time I had an anxiety attack I was in high school. I didn't know what it was at the time. My palms got so sweaty and I felt like I couldn't breathe. It happened right there in the gym locker room, when Coach told us to take a shower. I didn't know why I felt like that, but everything in my body just told me to leave. I put my clothes back on and went home. I even skipped my last 3 classes, because that's how bad it was.

I actually went to a doctor to treat my attacks weeks later and he prescribed me some meds. I was totally against the idea at the time, but it got so bad I felt I had no choice. So the meds did patch the leak for a while but I wanted to be fixed. I wanted to feel like the old me again.

I did try this one program, Panic Attack Solution, but that was a complete waste of cash. A good friend however, referred me to a program that really did help me.

http://susanwilder.com/anxietyattacks

Everyone's different, so I can't say if you'll see the same results, but most of the people I know who tried it, including myself saw phenomenal results. Hope this helps.<p><a href="http://ezinearticles.com/?Your-Course-of-Action-for-Finding-Affordable-Car-Insurance-Providers&id=5872954">Affordable Car Insurance</a></p>

Hello I am sorry for what you have gone through, I can imagine the feeling, I had a friend whose sister has nearly the same problem. And he was given all the types of prescriptions you can think of, but nothing helped her.

There are some methods that are supposed to work, from this friend of mine tried some traditional methods that was nearly medicine free, and after not a long time, she went on with her life with no problem.

Try to check on this method from here

and seek for some advice if it would be a good method to try out.<p><a href="http://macpaw.com/cleanmypc/" title="Computer cleaner">Computer cleaner</a></p>

Hey, I truly understand how you feel...

The uncomfortable symptoms like sweaty palms, "jelly" legs, extreme alertness, "impending doom" feeling and the fight-or-flight response.
I've been there. I'm an ex-victim. Sometimes the deep breathing or distraction techniques doesn't work - a full-blown panic or anxiety attack happens later.
Sometimes you experience panic attack out of the blue and such.

Do NOT buy Panic Away, Linden Method, EasyCalm or the Panic Puzzle. They do NOT work - I've tried them and their solutions are similar - it DOESN'T WORK.
Medications do NOT work - I was under many antidepressants (Prozac, Lexapro, Paxil and Zoloft) and anti-anxiety medications (Ativan, Klonopin, and Xanax) but my condition was the same - no improvement at all.

The only program that really work is The Panic Attack Solution. It's found by an ex-victim. You can check out his old blog in his official website to read up some useful tips.
But the package is the best - it teaches 17 powerful techniques and the real solution to panic attacks. I've bought it and it really helped me - it's the BEST anti-anxiety package or book I've read.
His theory really makes sense and it works effectively!

Panic Away is a very good product that has stood the test of time and has provided a lot of aplause for the help it has provided to anxiety and panic attacks.

That said always look at other products in the market place as there will always be suttle issues Panic Away may not fully address. Unless we cover all bases the avenues for anxiety and panic attacks to return is left open.

Above all we need to ask for help because all to often our friends donot know how to approach us. So leasrn to be more open, people will act as they will regardless of what we do or say

Everybody suffers from panic and anxiety disorders, only some more than others. You can apply for any job you want. You only have to have confidence in yourself. The only jobs I suggest not applying for would be driving jobs.

You can tell an employment agency that you do have a "minor" problem with anxiety and would like a position that is not high stress or or fast paced.

Poor health is a supportive agent to anxiety and panic attacks. Start regular exercises and a proper nutritional diet to improve your well-being. Your self-worth will also improve as your health improves.

If you have a Social Worker, you could have them provide medical information pertaining to your case but I think you should just apply for jobs and see how things span out first.

Some Mental Health Agencies can find jobs for you if you are in the Mental Health system and they have a list of employers who will support "special" cases.

There is only one correct answer that is not being allowed out ny the government agency that is in charge of telling us what dietary requirements are; The FDA.

If you address that scientifically accurate solution as to why your obviously high functioned friend has a problem with focus, you will no longer even need to help your friend.

Address this dietary issue that is labeled a "fad hippy" diet by the media. Ask the questions I did and you will easily understand the genetic sciences behind my answers. Have your friend start a gluten free diet and call me in a month!

What I know about this gluten intolerance issue can fill an encyclopedia. What I know it did for my focus and anxiety was beyond belief.

Now there are doctors slowly jumping on board of this pure genetic science that gluten proteins are responsible for anxiety through a process that is known as mal absorption. They are even selling these theories on infomercials as an anxiety reliever.

The problem with this science is that it turns the entire industry developed over the past 70 years of psychiatry and pharmacology on its proverbial head. It makes these industries, that all contain the same warning labels may cause psychotic and/or suicidal behavior, into actual fossils. These sciences make these professions dinosaur!

The problem this is having means that the entire health care system can save potential trillions of dollars in a simple dietary change but in the process these industries that drive amazing wasted dollars would fall off the face of the planet.

Just as we are wasting moneys on industries in their death throws such as combustiable engines, we cannot make politicians do the correct jobs.

The future is here and we know what is happening.

What I know about this is everything. I am a diagnosed celiac sprue. I define what has happened in the past 100 years that has devastated the human pack mammal species through pure genetic and medical science. The related and associated dysfunctions read like what has happened in diabetics, autism, arthritis, asthma, epilepsy, learning and anxiety dysfunctions, all levels of mental health, etc, etc.

Here is the google search that I am claiming redefines us as a species, if you are stupid and brave enough to look.

"Dr. Alessio Fasano Mal absorption Celiac Anxiety disorder"

Dr. Fasano is a world leader in the field of food allergen who is currently teachiong our doctors the potentials of food allergen and is based at the University of Maryland medical school. The other guy is Dr. Peter Green who does the same thing at Columbia University.

This genetic science is real and ignored. Just google either of these genetic modifiers and learn why a drywaller knows so much about the pure sciences of mental health. I am the HLA DQ8 pacific Rim Hunter Gatherer. The other gene is the HLA DQ2 Atlantic Rim Hunter Gatherer. These genes are known to have propensity for gluten intolerance or celiac sprue. They are present in 90% of the world populace and the FDA still refuses to tell us our number one recomended food source is the cause of anxiety disorders.

That is the anxiety end. While I was suffering from these dysfunctions that do not exist, I could find no help in governmental services. I have been to the social sucurity offices and they offer to teach you how to make a resume and how to interview.

I thought I could get aid being autistic, but I do not qualify. I do not look like an autistic nor do I play the banjo. I can look you in the eye, and I have those genes associated with the dysfunction all say I do not have.

Science states through pure genetics that 40% of the public hold the CDH9 and the CDH10 variant required to be considered autistic. The most affected by food allergey are the highest functioners.

Good luck in the political mess that is soon to follow when the public learns that the FDA is in cahoots with pharmaceutical industry and they both put profit in front of our health again.

1. Seek the counsellor or social worker for help.

2. Work with your friends, ask your friend any post in their company so that you have someone to take care of you at first.

3. Do your country have any work for your to work from home? for example: doing bulk mail (insert letter, paste stamps etc), sewing.

Ask your doctor for some propranolol - this drug is non addictive and safe with few side effects at low dosage. It's known as a beta blocker and acts by blocking the effects of adrenaline on the heart. I take this medication and it works very well indeed.

Other things you can take include:

L-theanine - an amino acid
Passiflora - herbal remedy
a combined magnesium/calcium supplement - both act as a natural sedative without causing drowsiness
Vitamin B complex - essential for good nervous system functioning.
Bach Rescue Remedy - some people swear by this.

Now, try avoiding ALL caffeine - even in tea - this made a huge difference to my panic attacks. I now drink decaf tea and coffee.

If you attacks are severe, then you'll have to visit your doctor to ask for the beta blocker. If you think you can cope with them by yourself, then try the herbals/amino acid.

If you are in the midst of a panic attack and feel very ill, try a re-breathe bag. It's just a paper bag that you place over your nose and mouth and start to gently breathe in and out. The carbon dioxide levels in your blood will increase and help to calm you. Just do it for a couple of minutes then stop and see how you feel. Don't hold the bag over your airways for much longer than that or you might cause too much C02 in your body.

Another thing you can do is to stimulate your vagus nerve. Close your eyes and gently place a finger onto your closed eyelids. Press hard enough to cause discomfort, but not so hard as to cause pain. You will need to do this off and on for about 8-10 minutes, but it does work. It will slow your heart rate and calm you down.

and

If you're in the mood for it - you could try acupuncture. I had my first session this morning to stop smoking, but the Chinese lady told me that she'd help my anxiety as well. I have felt great this afternoon and I made it round the shops just now without feeling jittery at all. So, this could be an option for you as well. It doesn't hurt at all when the needles are being inserted and the session lasts for about 40 minutes.

hope you feel better soon.

Often emotional problems have a root cause in nutritional deficiences. For example, 90-95% of us are deficient in magnesium, which is an essential co-factor for calcium. Some effects that can manifest themselves as a result of even mild deficiencies in magnesium incude sensitiveness to noise, nervousness, irritability, mental depression, confusion, twitching, trembling, apprehension, insomnia, muscle weakness and cramps in the toes, feet, legs, or fingers.

Most of us are also deficient in iodine, which can also lead to depression. The same is true for other minerals, including trace minerals, as well as B-complex vitamins and folic acid.

My suggestion would be to make sure you get plenty of magnesium (supplement at a rate of 1 part magnesium to 2 or 3 parts calcium), iodine, B vitamins and folic acid and perhaps to also take a good overall vitamin, mineral and nutrient supplement (such as IntraMax) to insure that you are are not missing any vital minerals, trace minerals, vitamins and other essential nutrients.

Also try to maintain as healthy of a diet as possible, eliminate sources of stress in your life, address any unresolved issues that may be troubling you, and practice techniques such as EFT and/or yoga.

Hawthorn berries (the Dr. Christopher's hawthorn berry syrup is my favorite) are excellent for panic and anxiety and racing or irregular heartbeat. L-tryptophan is also good to help maintain calmness.

There are no drugs that don't have dangerous side effects. These drugs were meant to affect the pituitary gland. This then affects the adrenal gland which unbalances the hormonal/glandular system. Thus, depending how a person's body trys and balance this in their system is what side effects you will get. Also, you glands can get so tired that they start creating anxiety (adrenals putting out too much cortisol) and making it hard to sleep.

Now for depression - use Omega 3 Fish Oil - it is an essential fatty acid. Get a pharmaceutical grade and take the recommended dosage. If after three days you don't have a postive change, up it a bit. (it takes three days for the body to adjust).

Anxiety - tart cherry - you can find it on line or in the health food store, will come in capsules. Just make sure that it is "flash pasteurized" or the goodness will be cooked out of it. Just take 1 every four hours if needed you can up it. Its a food product, no side effects.

I wouldn't do the herb route as herbs force the body to do something it already wouldn't do. Give your body the things it needs to function properly and things will improve dramatically.

Like another person said all antidepressants carry side effects and possible addiction. They are pretty strong psychotic drugs. You may want to consider a natural alternative that works maybe not as well but well enough without risking the side effects and other bad things. I know of a few natural brands out there: Panicyl, Vilft, and Anxiety-Eze.

Well thankfully you are aware that ssri antidepressants DO destroy peoples lives, they nearly destroyed mine (but that's a long story I wont go into here)

Since I finally came off ssri s I have never been better or happier. I do however suffer from anxiety and stress from time to time. These days to cope with that I use a natural supplement called GABA and Rhodiola, you will find both in health stores or on the net.

There is no "safe" pharmaceutical medication to deal with depression or stress. They all can have dreadful side effects. In my case it took me years to realise that ssri antidepressants were actually making me worse than I was in the first place, and less able to deal with stress.

Some people also say SAMe and 5HTP (both natural serotonin boosters for depression) are very good. Hope this helps!

No, they are all dangerous.

Manmade pills are often more dangerous than the anxiety itself, people just need love/affection someone to talk to and listen. If it were easier to be easier to find genuine loyal loving care no one would think they needed drugs.

First they tell kids to stay off drugs, then they push drugs on them saying they "need" it. amazing eh?

The anxiety disorders are a group of related conditions rather than a single disorder, they can look very different from person to person. One individual may suffer from intense anxiety attacks that strike without warning, while another gets panicky at the thought of mingling at a party. Someone else may struggle with a disabling fear of driving or uncontrollable, intrusive thoughts. Still another may live in a constant state of tension, worrying about anything and everything. But despite their different forms, all anxiety disorders share one major symptom: persistent or severe fear or worry in situations where most people wouldn’t feel threatened.<p><a href="http://www.clickbanknetdirectory.com/" title="Clickbank Marketplace">Clickbank Marketplace</a></p>

it sure can! seems like your nerves are shaken up... did you have any symptoms before the accident such as anxiety attacks? or only after?

The trick is to do breathing excercises and open up your internal channels to allow breath, blood and chi to flow through without blockage. I guarantee once you do some simple time tested breathing techniques and stretches you won't have shortness of breath or trembling.. you will be in control because you will be in control of your breathing.. remember, breath controls everything!!! everything!

All of the answers here are really great. I hope reading them helped you relax a bit. shortness of breath and trembling are two of the most common anxiety attack feelings. By the way, I answered this question assuming you have anxiety not some kind of heart condition... Anyway, I think by now (a few days after you asked this question) you would know if you had a heart attack.

A car accident is a very scary event, especially if it was really bad. This can definitely lead to anxiety even one week later. The mind is a very complex thing. The stress we have to deal with on a daily basis is really astonishing when you think about it. Our minds have to do amazing things in order to keep us from going off the deep end. In some cases we might not realize how intense a situation was until a long time after. My theory is that anxiety and panic attacks are a way for our bodies to distract us from something unpleasant (like thinking about a horrifying experience or dealing with an person who is very negative and brings a lot of negative to the environment)

Definitely keep the appointment. Realize that anxiety can not hurt you so you don't have to go sooner. If you are visiting a general practitioner try to get a referral to a specialist who can help you with therapy. Or if you are one who can work through their own stress and anxiety try to do that.

Your problem is most likely connected with the incident, I think its called anxiety attack, my cousin had the same problem during spring break when he and his family got into a car accident. He just couldn't stop shaking. so he went to a doctor as soon as he could. But I think your fine going on Tuesday.

Yes it certainly can, but in my experience it doesn't last all day as you are describing. I suppose it could, but it is also weird that it is happening a week after the accident. Was the accident just the straw that broke the camel's back?

If I were you, I would go to your doctor on Tuesday as scheduled. Your doctor is going to know you better and take the time to understand your problems unlike urgent care doctors would. In the meantime, try to relax and get your mind off of the accident. I like to exercise to clear my mind. Aerobic exercise might also make you breathe more deeply. Whatever you end up doing, make sure you aren't thinking about the accident or your symptoms, as this can do nothing but worsen them.
Good luck!

I think it is entirely possible that you are sort of reliving the accident, and your anxiety is manifesting itself in the shortness of breath, etc.

Even though you have a doctor's appointment already scheduled for Tuesday, I think I would call tomorrow and describe these feelings you have been having to see if they think you should come in sooner.

Good luck to you. I'm sure it will take some time to get over the trauma from your accident.

Yes, those are all normal feelings of a panic/anxiety attack; I suffer from the same feelings, I even start to shake really bad. I have been suffering for about 5 years now and it sucks until you can learn to get control and even then there will be times where it still just sucks. Like tonight just dead in my sleep I woke up in a panic over I have no idea what, but shaking a racing heart and racing thoughts. I usually make a warm cup of tea (NON CAFFENIATED), put in a great movie (usually a chick flick) and just cover up, get comfy and relax. Another thing to do too is to have a notebook and write down all of your thoughts/fears that are running through your mind at the time. You will quickly start to realize that you are having an attack over NOTHING :) I also have to take meds that have helped tremendously and am very thankful for. I also pray a lot and just trust God with everything! Good luck, you will be okay and always remember you are not alone in this :)

I've dealt with anxiety disorder for years. I've been in treatment for a long time as well. First talk to your doctor about your overall health. If you are a generally healthy adult you have nothing to worry about. The attacks feel very physical, but trust me they are more bark than bite. And yes, relax as much as possible. If you feel like you are losing control or are going to hurt yourself or others call 911. I've been to the hospital more times than I can count for these horrible attacks. Rest assured they do pass.

Anxiety disorders are astonishingly common. They include Panic, Phobias (including Agoraphobia and Social Phobia), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, and Generalised Anxiety Disorder. For many people self-help is a viable way forward and this is why we wrote our book Free Yourself from Anxiety. We aim to show you, step-by-step, how to set up and follow an individually tailored self-help programme.

Part one looks at lifestyle, because very often the way you live is contributing to Anxiety. By making simple changes you can get yourself fit and ready to tackle your Anxiety driven behaviours.

Part two shows you how to challenge your Anxiety in a safe controlled way, by setting small goals that take you gradually towards letting go of anxious behaviours.

Part three shows you how to recognise your anxious thinking, challenge it, and ultimately change it.

Part four explains how to delve into some of the deeper issues that may be driving Anxiety. We also suggest where it might be appropriate for you to seek professional help.

Our aim in this book is to be as comprehensive as possible. Each reader will be able to decide which aspects of the recovery programme they need to complete and which are not relevant to them. In addition we have only discussed proven safe techniques.

Throughout the book we have used the words of Anxiety sufferers who are in various stages of recovery to illustrate our points

The authors

Emma Fletcher is a UK-registered counsellor with 20 years experience of helping anxiety sufferers and of training counsellors and volunteers on anxiety help-lines. She remains firmly committed to the self-help principle and believes that much of her work consists of giving her clients the tools to enable them to live more effectively. This book is an attempt to bring those tools to a wider audience.

Martha Langley is a professional writer and journalist. She has more than 10 years experience as a volunteer on helplines for people dealing with Anxiety and has also been a one-to-one mentor and recovery group leader. This has given her an insight into the difficulties faced by people trying to put self-help techniques into practice. Her aim in Free Yourself from Anxiety was to explain these techniques, to explain the reasoning behind them, and to make practical suggestions that will give every reader the best chance of recovery.

Free Yourself From Anxiety ISBN 978-1- 84528-311-7 is available from bookshops, book websites and Amazon.

An answer I read mentioned, "if you think calmer you will be calmer". Although this is a great idea, as an ex panic attack sufferer, when you try to think calmer you panic even more because you know int he back of your mind there are crazy pains in your chest and numbness in your arms that you just can't explain. Even when you do explain them it doesn't matter because they keep getting worse. On top of that you feel them come on all the time and that gets frustrating.

At 16 I really oppose medication because your brain is just developing and by introducing a chemical that will mess with the uptake and reuptake of neurotransmitters sounds dangerous to me.

Look at this study,Eli Lilly said that in clinical trials patients treated with Cymbalta for GAD experienced a 46% improvement in anxiety symptoms, compared to 32% for those who took placebo, as measured by the Hamilton Anxiety Scale."

First of all, how exactly do you measure anxiety? The Hamilton Anxiety Scale was created in the 50's and it was used in the study in 2007, this doesn't make sense to me with all the advancements made over the years. Plus this system uses a subject interviewer system which allows for basis.

Now that I got that out of the way, I noticed you spoke about bio feedback, is that all you've tried? I know you go to a therapist twice a week, what do you do there? To be honest bio feedback is really not that helpful and it is not even really accepted by medical professionals because there is no proof it works to treat anything.

If you have the time I recommend you start writing in a journal if you don't already. Focus on the times when you have really bad anxiety. Write what happens before and after you feel a panic attack coming on and see if you can connect it to an event that occurs. This can take months or even years, but there is something that causes your anxiety, but you need to look inward and figure it out.

Studies show that people who are very passive tend to have anxiety because they basically let the world walk all over them and they never do anything assertively to solve problems or confront difficult situations. If you have some problem you have to attack it with the aggression it requires!

I think you will be okay, just work hard on figuring out what you need to grow and prosper and try to worry less about the symptoms of anxiety because they can really never hurt you. I;m sure you've realized this after having anxiety for 3 years.
