Being Shy
Being shy is not a phobia or neurosis of any kind. Being shy simply means being careful, and using caution these days is
wise. Many people see shyness as a charming trait. If you are concerned about yourself or a loved one being shy, you probably are worrying in vane. In other words, overcoming shyness in itself, need not be a priority unless there is a deep seated underlying cause.
If however, a person refuses to make contact with anybody because he or she either feels unworthy of being accepted, or he or she feels hatred for everybody, there is a problem. Both of these conditions are social anxieties that need to be dealt with.
The first condition is an inferiority complex, the latter is hatred which, in itself can be either a neurosis or even a psychosis.
