Best reply by Shannonn:
Of course! Anxiety can cause a ton of things. I have anxiety and I get tons of different symptoms of it.
Like, for example, my head gets fuzzy for a few seconds and then I snap back into it. Don’t worry! Just keep calm and breathe deep!

Can anxiety disorder cause 1-5 second sensations without having a full panic/anxiety attack?

Yes…those are some of the most common symptoms of anxiety and sometimes those sensations alone will cause you to have a panic attack. I use to get those sensations and I use to be like “what the heck is this? It use to make me even more anxious and then I would get a full blown panic attack. Don’t worry…it’ll get better.
Yes that is normal. Even if you are not having a full on attack, any sort of stress could cause even the smallest symptom.
Are you anxious right before? Many panic attacks are caused by the fear of (wouldn’t you know it) panic attacks. The fact that you worried about it enough to post it up on here is a red flag to me. Panic attacks are different for different people. I get out of focus and my heart goes racing, I can’t get any control back. They last for different amounts of time so it’s hard to say. I wouldn’t say that I have actual pain though. It looks a little big like a total break down; crying, gasping out of control, and a lot of the time the attack-ee is thinking to themselves “Oh god, oh god, oh god, I am dying! I am dying!”. Hard to explain, really. I have an extreme anxiety disorder & often feel this way. My parents spotted it but I had several people come and tell me that they thought I had an anxiety disorder. I know how terribly horrible it is. Don’t listen to anyone here who says that you can easily fix it on your own, but also do not go running to the pills. The side effects to the drugs often make it much worse. I am trying chinese natural medication (may sound a little crazy, I know!), meditation, yoga and drinking tea. Although panic attacks may still creep up on you or something might spin you out of control… unfortunatly there’s no cure so we all have to learn to live with it. Start paying attention to the little things that you know set you off. Deep breathing into a paper bag or into your hands with your eyes closed helps. When I first suspected this I was telling myself that I was being paranoid. Just know that what you are going through is REAL & if there is always little things making your palms sweat and your head hurt… you most likely have -at least a light case- of GAD… There are many different types of anxiety disorders but often people will have two different types. i.e. I have both GAD & PD
*Remember most people with an anxiety disorder only have some of the symptoms… almost never does someone have all symptoms*
GAD: Generalized anxiety disorder (Symptoms include… Restlessness or a feeling of being “keyed up” or “on edge”, Being easily fatigued, Difficulty concentrating or a sense of your mind going blank, Irritability, Muscle tension, Difficulty sleeping, Trembling, twitching, muscle soreness, Headaches, sweating or chills, nausea, dizziness, Shortness of breath, Diarrhea, Irritable bowel syndrome, Being easily startled, People with generalized anxiety disorder may also experience depression at some point.)
PD: Panic Disorder (Symptoms include… Racing or pounding heartbeat, Sweating, Trembling, Feeling short of breath or smothered, Choking sensation, Chest pain or discomfort, Nausea or stomach discomfort, Dizziness or lightheadedness, Surreal or detached feeling, Fear of losing control or going crazy, Fear of dying, Numbing or tingling Chills or hot flushes, Persistent fear of more panic attacks, Intense worry about possible causes or effects of the panic attacks for example, losing control, heart attack, going crazy)
SAD: Social Anxiety Disorder (Symptoms include… Avoidance of social situations, Intense self-consciousness in social settings, Physical symptoms such as blushing, sweating, trembling, or muscle tension, Unreasonable fear of embarrassment)
Other Anxiety disorders include Performance Anxiety, OCD: Obsessive Compulsive Disorder & PTSD: Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
