Im starting generic zoloft for panic/anxiety 25mg a day and im wondering when the best time to take it would be? morning or night?
Best reply by Ty B:
I’ve seen it taken both ways. You’ll need to try a dose on the next day you’re off work, probably in the morning would be best. If it makes you feel draggy and sleepy, you may need to take it at night.
Good luck…

It is entirely up to you. One of the side effects is it makes you sleepy so a lot of my patients choose to take it at night. Other people aren’t bothered by that so they take it in the morning.
Try taking it in the morning first on a day where you have no where to be. Then, if you get really tired, its OK. You will also then know you’d be better off taking it at night.
Good luck!
I was on a different SSRI for depression, but I found that Endep (a tricyclic antidepressant, aka Amitriptyline hydrochloride) works much better for anxiety. I take it in the evenings, about an hour before I go to bed, because it also helps me to fall asleep. (I don’t know about Zoloft though, sorry. I took my anti-depressant in the mornings so that I’d take it at a regular time each day.)
Zoloft may work for you, but if it stops working, or you end up feeling like a zombie when you’ve been on it for a long time, you might like to talk to your doctor about whether trying Endep is an option. (I started feeling zombified after 2 years of taking a similar SSRI)
Note: As with any anti-depressant, you must wean off Zoloft, as a sudden stop will result, about a month later, in a sudden drop in brain chemistry and a severely suicidal episode.
