What’s it like when you have a panic attack?


Yesterday i went to the doctor’s and she told me that i had anxiety disorders. What’s it like when you guys have panic attacks?? I would like to hear from people who have had real life experiences with them, because i don’t want to feel alone about this because nobody i know has panics attacks. For me, it’s like i feel very exposed to everything, and i get random chills and i just want to cuddle up in a ball and hide from the world. My heart does not beat very abnormally fast though, but i do feel waves of nervousness rushing through my body, and i get all shaky and tingly and lightheaded and dizzy and i feel helpless, like i am about to die and nobody can save me. Every person’s experience is different right?

Mine is like this. Shaking body, extreme heat, sweating, short breaths, fast heart beat and mild nausea. My ears are filled with sound of windy forest, leaves rubbing each others. I feel like I’m going to die, hopeless and alone. Waves of emotions of fear, anxiety, anger and sadness.

I hate it when I have it middle of night, while I’m asleep.

How to Control a Panic Attack – Stopping the Fear of Having a Panic Attack


Panic attack can be an extremely frightening experience. Suddenly, your hit by a barrage of symptoms, you may feel like having a heart attack, suffocating, or losing control. This experience can be so traumatizing and real that you will feel like dieing right at that moment.

Panic attack can strike anytime, anywhere and to anyone. It don’t even need a reason to hit you. Although excessive stress can trigger a panic attack, it is completely random for most of the time.

However, once you experienced the first panic attack, the body will be put on “alert” status and the chances of having another attack is increased. This becomes a problem if panic attack occur again and again.

Once out of the bus, the panic feeling subside and your worst fear is confirmed. You associate bus ride to your panic attack. What I have just explained is a typical example of the development of panic attack and it can be applied to any situation. You have a panic attack at a particular place or situation. You link it to that place or situation and avoid it.

The main culprit here is fear. The fear and anxiety of having a panic attack causes it to happen. Panic attack feeds on fear and anxiety. The more your fearful of it happening, the harder and faster it will hit you. In order to control a panic attack and stop it forever, you need to attack its roots – fear.

The most effective way to stop panic attack forever is to KNOW that you will not be harmed. A large part of the fear comes from the fact that the sufferer thinks he is about to die, which is totally untrue!

-Panic attack CANNOT make you faint

-Panic attack CANNOT cause you to go mad/crazy

Don’t fear panic attack…and certainly don’t fear having one!

Can extreme panic and anxiety cause shortness of breath?


I’ve been feeling it all day. Shortness of breath, that is. I also feel my heart beating through my chest, and my hands have been trembling a lot. Could this be anxiety, panic stress, etc. I got in a bad car wreck about a week ago, but walked away uninjured. Could it be linked to this? I am going to the doctor on tuesday, should I go sooner? Please just tell me anything, I just want to feel better.

Yes! It is called an anxiety attack… and it can be serious if you are not in control of them.
Tuesday is soon enough, because you are probably just suffering from some anxiety after your traumatic accident.

Is it normal to have a type of burning feeling throughout your body during an panic/anxiety attack?


I have been having attacks where my heart race increases, my body starts to tingle, I have a burning feeling that feels like it is traveling through my blood, my chest hurts, and I get shortness of breath. Would this be categorized as an anxiety or panic attack? If so, how can I stop them?

I would say it is one.
When your blood races, whether from running, or panic attack, yes you feel your blood. Your blood pressure goes up horrible (mine was190/240). Your body responds in all kinds of ways, and yes if you have a weak ticker, it can kill you. Most people go to ER for this reason. They can give you meds to relax you, but ultimately you/or pills need to get control of it.
You first of all need to calm down. Think on relaxing things (I know it is hard, but RELAX), nice music, deep breaths, slow and deep. When you get under control, think about the thing that upset you, is it really that big of a deal (you start feeling panic, start relaxing again), face your fear.

I’ve had a lot of “almost” panic/anxiety attacks, but never the real thing, my breath would shorten and my heart would race realy quick over the slightest thing I’m worried about. And I would get this nervous feeling like I’m not in control anymore.I used to be really calm, so idk what’s happening.

How long can panic/anxiety attacks lasts and is the following normal?


Lately I have been waking up at 1:30am in the morning at least twice a week in sheer panic/anxiety. My heart beating fast,sweating terribly,impending doom feeling, bowels out of control and feels like my skin has a rash or burning sensation. They are lasting severly for approx 4 or 5 hrs and then tapper off throughout the day. Help please.

yes i was wanderin how you can tell the difference between an anxiety attack/panic attack or if you are having


heart trouble. i have pain in the middle of my chest and my breast have also been sore. not sure if that would cause that pain either. i have a kidney disease and on some meds like xanax darvocet baclofen midrin zoloft. this is all due from a car wreck in 04. thanks much. if its a anxiety/panic how can i ease the chest pain and try to make it ease down?
