OCD illness is also known as obsessive compulsive disorder. This type of nervous illness falls into the category of anxiety
disorder. OCD is marked by one’s overreaction to naturally uncomfortable feelings. For instance, a common obsessive compulsive disorder is one where the patient washes his/her hands well beyond the number of times that would be considered normal. Usually, after washing he/she wil still feel filthy and be tempted to wash once more.
A chemical in the brain, serotonin is said to be responsible for OCD. Serotonin, when flowing properly in the brain, stifles a person’s overreacting to controllable situations. Those suffering OCD do not have normal serotonin flow and so, they tend to react strongly to what would normally considered average impulses.
